Teaching Positions Available for Winter Academic Intersession Programs in China

The Diligence and Delight Learning Center (DDC, http://www.ddc-usa.org/) invites teachers of gifted students to apply to teach in our 1- or 2-week programs, taught by faculty from the US. DDC academic programs are held both in the summer and during China's extended winter holidays. For selected candidates, compensation includes:

  • Roundtrip economy airfare to camp city

  • Assistance acquiring short-term work visa

  • Comfortable accommodations and meals (breakfast and lunch)

  • Daily transportation from lodging to school site

  • Competitive weekly salary

Chemistry Instructor at GSSM

South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM)

The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) is seeking an exceptional chemistry instructor, who can help talented students achieve a deeper understanding of chemistry. Applicants should have a Master’s of Science degree in chemistry or related field, PhD preferred, and a love of teaching. Desired qualifications include a strong content background in chemistry, experience in teaching chemistry at the college or advanced high school level, knowledge and application of technology, enthusiasm for teaching high-school-aged students, and an ability to guide students in the presentation of senior research experiences. Additional responsibilities may include academic advising, committee meetings, supervision of student clubs, and occasional evening/weekend commitments.

Current courses taught at GSSM at a level comparable to college courses include Principles of Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry, and AP Environmental Science. The primary responsibilities of the incoming instructor will be teaching Principles of Chemistry and/or AP Chemistry with the potential to teach elective courses in the future. GSSM encourages the introduction of new courses as determined by student interest and available time.

Mathematics Instructor at LSMSA

Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA)

LSMSA seeks applicants for Mathematics Instructor (Employment Beginning August 2018).

The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, a selective admissions, residential high school for Louisiana’s gifted and high-achieving students, seeks to fill a mathematics teaching position beginning in August 2018. The ideal candidate will cultivate exceptional high school talent by teaching courses from College Algebra through Calculus III, supporting students in competitions, mentoring student independent research, and teaching advanced and elective courses (pure or applied) in the candidate's areas of interest.  Advanced and elective courses currently being taught include DiffEQ, Linear Algebra, Topology, Modern Algebra, Chaos Theory, Graph Theory, Probability and Statistics, and Vector Calculus.  

Qualifications include a Master’s degree in Mathematics, previous teaching experience, and an interest in working with bright young people. Other duties include academic advising, sponsoring, chaperoning, or assisting in extra-curricular and student social activities outside the normal school day.

LSMSA is publicly funded as a state agency and is tuition free. The selective admissions process is open to all rising 10th and 11th grade students in Louisiana. On average, students enroll from 70% of the state's parishes (counties). Founded in 1983, LSMSA is located in Historic Natchitoches.  The school is adjacent to Northwestern State University; faculty and students have access to the university library and many other facilities and programs.
