Chemistry Instructor at SCGSSM

S.C. Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM)

As part of our new engineering Accelerate program for motivated high school students, we are seeking an exceptional Chemistry instructor to start by August 2017. Applicants should have a Master’s degree in chemistry, Ph.D. preferred, and a love of teaching.  Desired qualifications include a strong content background in chemistry, experience teaching chemistry at the college or advanced high school levels, knowledge and application of technology, an understanding of gifted learners, and enthusiasm for teaching motivated and talented high-school-aged students.  Candidates familiar with teaching distance education (virtual) courses, as well as candidates with prior engineering or science experience, are particularly encouraged to apply.   

Accelerate is being offered by GSSM to cultivate the next generation of creative engineers and technical leaders, providing motivated high school students from across South Carolina an innovative and accelerated path toward college engineering degrees. The instructor selected for the teaching position will work with other Accelerate faculty to implement an integrated engineering curriculum that is taught virtually to high school students throughout South Carolina.  In particular, this instructor will be responsible for developing and teaching college level General Chemistry courses to students interested in engineering, which are taught concurrently and integrated with engineering, mathematics, and English courses.  Laboratory activity development and teaching of on-site, hands-on weekend laboratory sessions is also required.  For more information, please visit www.scgssm.org.

This is a full-time (10-month) teaching position, with full benefits available. A public school teaching certificate is not required.  Salary is competitive and commensurate with credentials, experience and unique capabilities.

Community Developer

Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts (ASMSA)

The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts (ASMSA), a campus of the University of Arkansas System, is a is a two-year residential high school for academically talented 11th and 12th grade students. ASMSA is currently inviting applications for the position of Community Developer, beginning June 16, 2015. This is a twelve-month, live-in position which includes room and board while school is in session. This position is responsible for the management and budgeting of the Student Activity Fund, supervision of Student Activities Council, training of Community Leaders, oversight of the Student Work Service Program, and other student related activities.
