Diligence and Delight Learning Center

Teaching Positions Available for Winter Academic Intersession Programs in China

The Diligence and Delight Learning Center (DDC, http://www.ddc-usa.org/) invites teachers of gifted students to apply to teach in our 1- or 2-week programs, taught by faculty from the US. DDC academic programs are held both in the summer and during China's extended winter holidays. For selected candidates, compensation includes:

  • Roundtrip economy airfare to camp city

  • Assistance acquiring short-term work visa

  • Comfortable accommodations and meals (breakfast and lunch)

  • Daily transportation from lodging to school site

  • Competitive weekly salary

DDC is currently accepting applications for teachers to participate in its winter session terms.  Programs in Beijing and Shanghai are scheduled for the following dates:

Winter I Program:  Applications open and accepted until October 25, 2017

Expectations:

DDC is dedicated to the concept of “complementary education” in which the content-rich emphasis of traditional Chinese education is blended with best practice in critical and creative thinking from Western education. DDC instructors are responsible for delivering challenging and dynamic inquiry-based curriculum to classes of up to 20 gifted students. Teachers are expected to either work with provided materials or design a course appropriate to meet students’ needs. Most students are proficient in English. A teaching assistant is assigned to each classroom to organize students and assist in course activities.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of experience teaching advanced or gifted youth

  • Evidence of gifted licensure, professional development, or conference attendance preferred

  • A background in science is helpful for DDC STEM-based courses

  • Flexibility, collaborative spirit, active interest in experiencing new cultures

  • Commitment to professionalism
