Applicants should have a Master’s degree, Ph.D. preferred, and a love of teaching.  Desired qualifications include a strong content background in Chemistry and experience in teaching Chemistry at college or advanced high school levels, knowledge and application of technology, an understanding of gifted learners, enthusiasm for teaching motivated and talented high-school-aged students and an ability to advise students in the completion of senior research projects.  General academic advising, committee meetings, student activity advising, and occasional evening/weekend commitments are a regular part of faculty responsibilities.

GSSM, one of the nation’s leading high schools, seeks a highly motivated person to continually improve student outcomes by providing and coordinating academic support to advanced juniors and seniors in a residential high school setting. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing various support strategies to assist students academically. The target start date is July 3, 2017.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching an academic transition seminar, managing all aspects of tutoring centers and required study halls for students in academic jeopardy, meeting individually and in small groups with students as needed, working with other school departments to provide necessary support to students, assisting in standardized test prep, assisting with creation and management of educational improvement plans, responsible for a two-week summer bridge program for a select group of incoming juniors, coordinating state required testing and assisting with academic teams and clubs.   Applicants should have a Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, Counseling or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of pertinent experience.  Desired qualifications include experience addressing student and parent concerns, experience with gifted students, excellent organizational and communication skills, ability to manage projects and willingness to adapt and acquire new skills as needed.

Japanese Teacher at ASMSA

Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts (ASMSA)

The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts (ASMSA), a campus of the University of Arkansas System, invites applications from qualified candidates for a position in the Outreach Department as a Japanese Instructor beginning August 2017. This is a ten-month, full-time position. ASMSA is a public, residential high school for academically talented and motivated eleventh and twelfth grade students from across Arkansas. The Japanese teacher will be shared between ASMSA and the Lakeside School Districts. Both are located in Hot Springs Arkansas.

At ASMSA, the teacher will teach high school Japanese I and II with the possibility of co-teaching a Japanese Culture and Civilization class. At Lakeside, the teacher will teach high school Japanese I and II with the possibility of teaching additional classes.
