The National Consortium of Secondary STEM schools fully supports ESSA. "This is very good for the students in our member STEM schools," said NCSSS Executive Director Todd Mann. It improves funding for STEM schools and will help prepare our students for their future careers."
In addition to expanded funds for STEM, the legislation also establishes the definition of a STEM-Specialty School as a school, or dedicated program within a school, that engages students in rigorous, relevant, and integrated learning experiences focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, including computer science, which include authentic school wide research. This is a definition NCSSS worked on with members of Congress to get included.
